the image of a world without communication and the examples of seven communication models
By:He YiPeng(Bruce)
I think we should discuss the problem in stages. In the first stage, the whole world was in a
barbaric state, with no civilization or even human beings, but only some
single-celled, low-level creatures. At that time, even without any information
exchange, the world was still functioning normally, and natural laws dominated
the whole world, and everything was "natural". In the second stage, the exchange of
information began as soon as humans emerged, even though language did not
exist. Human ancestors tried to
understand each other's meaning through simple information exchange, and only
by cooperating with each other and taking care of each other could they survive
in the harsh environment and cruel competition.
When human civilization began, in order to continuously improve living
conditions and lifestyles, it was more necessary to communicate with each other
and form a unity, so as to promote the continuous development of productive
forces and production relations and jointly promote social progress. Even animals need to follow a certain
principle of "communication" to determine division of labor and
cooperation in order to survive, which is determined by instinct. In the third stage, when human technology has
developed to a high degree, people can directly understand each other's mind
through brain wave guidance, without information exchange, let alone language
communication, through some "brain wave current exchange", can convey
meaning.
1. A world without communication has both good and bad sides. The good: People don't have language
misunderstandings, they're individuals, they just have to live their lives,
they don't have to worry about anything, and maybe not even worry about
it. The bad side: ① the living standard is low. Without communication, there would be no
fusion of human civilizations, no collision of ideas, and it would be difficult
for novel and scientific ideas to be verified and replicated. It would remain
the most primitive ecological state forever.
② Limited social interaction.
According to Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory, "social
needs" are essential. Without communication, human needs will not be
satisfied, which may also be a kind of pain, and the scope of human
communication will be greatly limited. ③ The way of thinking cannot be
improved. Without communication, the
human experience would not be passed on to future generations, and the world
would remain in a low-level cycle of epochs that could stagnate forever. To sum
up, I think a world without communication does more harm than good.
2.①Rhetrical:For example, in blind dates, both two need to show each other their
excellence, ability and good character in order to win each other's trust and
goodwill, that is a one-to-one communication. Aristotle proposed the three
elements of rhetoric: "credit, emotion and logic". In the spread of
human activities, most of the earliest spread is the spread of face to face,
this belongs to a kind of nature with rhetoric in speech activities, all of
them is to spread information to try to set a good personality, personality
appeal by for the audience to understand the speaker's personality, as well as
the audience in an appropriate position, let the audience feel your
presentation is held for them. In addition, it is important to use techniques
and techniques to make the audience believe what the speaker is saying. ②Semiotic: Like the language of any
country or nation in the world. Including semantics, pragmatics and syntax, different
languages connect things with their own words or pronunciation, forming a huge
meaning system. People can combine symbols in infinite variety according to
language rules to express rich meanings.③Phenomenological:For example, when I look at a table, the color, shape, size and
other components of the table enter into my intentional activity, so that I
only see the table itself. I did not try to piece together the sensory
material, what I get is the object of intention that is presented to me
directly. It is through conscious attention and "natural experience"
that reality is understood, truth is acquired, and prejudice is avoided.④Cybernetic:When we are communicating with each other, we must take into account
factors such as mores and etiquette. For example, there are also common taboos
in Chinese and Western cultures, such as taboos on birth, aging, illness and
death. No matter in China or in western countries, it is taboo to mention
"death". If it must be mentioned, euphemisms will be used instead,
such as "gone" and "immortal passing" in Chinese, and
"Go to Heaven" and "be with God "in English. The difference
is that the English euphemism for death is closely related to Christianity,
while the Chinese euphemism for death is influenced by Buddhism and Taoism. ⑤Social-psychological:Public opinion, rumor, ballad and so on
are one of the phenomena of human linguistic communication, which is a kind of
social psychological phenomenon. For example, public opinion has great
influence on individuals and collectives. Psychologically consistent with
social opinion is an effective way to adapt to the social environment,
otherwise it is regarded as "abnormal", resulting in incompatible
with people around or social conflict, and even suffered from all aspects of
the society. For example, a Yunnan miner in suffer is not as valuable as
three cows. ⑥Sociocultural:Reality is "constructed" through the interaction of
groups, communities and cultures, including interaction, identity, community and context. For example,
in Chinese dining table culture, subordinates should take the initiative to
toast to the leader and send their own blessings. When the junior or lower
ranking people are toasted by the elder or higher ranking people, they need to
stand up to show respect. ⑦Critical:It focuses on the dominant and taken for granted systems in society,
reveals oppressive social conditions and distribution of power to promote
social liberation, criticizes tradition, privilege and power, and combines
theory with action, such as Marxism, Frankfurt School, Feminism and so on. In
view of the defects in the capitalist communication industry, it puts forward
profound and sharp criticism. These critical voices have a certain restraining
effect on the savage growth of communication under the condition of capitalism,
so as to better promote social fairness and balanced development, and consider
the welfare and life of vulnerable groups.
