The comparison of Chinese media system。——Bruce (He YiPeng)
The comparison of Chinese media system。
Since the founding of New China, tremendous changes have taken place in the management system of Chinese media under the specific historical background. The development process includes the following four periods:
1. Initial stage -- the beginning of media development
Before 1978, the operating funds were directly allocated by the government. In the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the media industry formed a relatively complete news network in just a few years. The Party and the government formulated a series of rules and regulations to regulate the media work, established the operation and management system suitable for the national conditions at that time, and clarified the enterprise status of the newspaper. At the end of 1949, a meeting of newspaper managers was held in Beijing. Newspapers in this period began to implement corporate management, specific measures are: correct adjustment of quotation; Pay attention to advertising business management, increase economic income. In general, it belongs to Polarized Pluralist model.
2. 1979 - Turning point in media development.
In December 1978, the third Plenary Session of the eleventh Central Committee of the COMMUNIST Party of China began to correct the mistakes of the "Cultural Revolution" comprehensively and seriously. Reform and opening up and the development of market economy promoted the reform of the internal mechanism and management system of the news media. In 1978, the Ministry of Finance approved the People's Daily and other newspapers in the capital to try out the system of "public institutions and enterprise management", starting a new exploration in operation and management. In November 1979, the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee officially approved news agencies to undertake advertising. This heralds the lifting of the ban on media advertising for many years, changing the "news media is only a tool of public opinion propaganda". At this stage, system of Chinese media gradually shifts to Democratic Corporatist model.
3. From the early 1980s to the present, great changes have taken place in the business of the media.
In terms of operation and management, the media gradually carry out the enterprise management mechanism, consciously introduce the market competition mechanism, and pay attention to the commercial operation. The Chinese media has entered the preparation stage of industrialization. Newspapers began to try to run a variety of ways of business, newspaper capital began to show the essence of profit, marking the second marketization process of China's newspaper industry began a new stage. CCTV 2000 work conference for the first time clearly proposed the establishment of the "second economic pillar", market-oriented, based on television resources television industry business activities, to get rid of over-reliance on advertising income to support the needs of television business pattern. On the whole, China's media system is Liberal model, but due to China's special system, such "Liberty" needs to be under official supervision to ensure the stability of the country and prevent the entry of bad ideas from abroad.

I think John made a representative statement on the situation of Chinese media. Socialism with Chinese characteristics determines that Chinese media also have Chinese characteristics.

I'm interested to understand what do you mean about "bad ideas from abroad", if you could share some examples.
ReplyDeleteIn addition, I would like to know if the decision of something being "good or bad" depends on the government or if each individual can gather information and make their own judgements?
Because liberty refers to be absence of restraints, limited only by the rights of others. However if the government sets certain restrictions, there is and institutionalized regulation and not full freedom. (Bernarda Vasquez)
